YWCA Uganda Strategic Plan 2025-2029: Summary

YWCA Uganda is a faith-based Christian membership organization founded in 1952. Our strategic plan for 2025 to 2029 sets out where we are heading and how we will get there. This page summarises the plan.

Vision

A vibrant YWCA that positively impacts the social economic wellbeing of the girl child and women in Uganda.

Mission

To empower girls and women in Uganda through knowledge, skills, rights promotion and socio-economic opportunities.

Core values

Our focus

We promote and protect the rights of women and girls in education, sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and development, and we improve, promote and expand the YWCA Vocational Training Institute (VTI).

Four strategic goals

1. Strengthen our systems and structures

Review and update our policies and manuals, strengthen our systems, and adopt modern, secure ICT so that YWCA is effective, efficient and vibrant.

2. Diversify our income

Strengthen fundraising, commercialise students’ products, explore other business ventures, and make better use of our space so that YWCA becomes self-sustaining.

3. Reach more learners at the VTI

Make the YWCA brand more visible through digital marketing and a new website, develop new marketable courses, strengthen outreach to schools and the community, engage alumni, and offer scholarships and affordable short courses.

4. Build partnerships and collaborations

Identify and engage development partners, develop collaborative programmes, formalise partnerships, and work with community stakeholders through needs assessments and joint awareness campaigns.
